Archaeologists have found 4,000 year old noodles in an upturned bowl, possibly left there after an eartquake.
Made from Millet, they look like the traditional La-Mian noodles.
This was at THE LAJIIA SITE on the Yellow river.
How would noodles last 4000 years? Were they mummified? And why is this significant?
Previously, the oldest evidence of noodles was a description about 1,900 year ago.
They were preserved because they were`fossilied'
Fossilized noodles...wow.
I guess I don't see the signifigance of noodles in China.
funny. i'm sure the ramen noodles will also last 4,000 years. to puzzle archeologists in the future ("they actually ate that?")
the 'creation of a noodle' has been seen as only a recient development in the advance of foods.
It is an arrogant stance so to speak, that people think they are the first to develop the concept of rolled rice, flour etc... that can be made into noodles.
but that is just my guess
That would be toatlly cool to find noodles that are that old ,I mean come on 4,000 yr old noodles that is old!!
