git is an insult - particularly northern English I think, I don't know if it has a specific meaning but it's like saying 'greedy little b*****d'

I always assumed that Git had sexual over tones. As such it was a disrespectful reference by a male to the female partner in a casual sexual relationship/

not in Liverpool - men would say it to other men and not so much to women. It can be used nastily or as an affectionate insult to a friend

Please supply a "suitable" alternative to GIT.
