Snow? Happy shovelling, JPB!
(Just booked my B&B for June, btw  )
joefromchicago wrote:Well, I was going to suggest that, if it was too much trouble for JPB to come in from the great white north(ern suburbs), that we just cancel, but it sounds like the snow will only increase her motivation. And so, andiamo alla festa!
No, I'm cool with the plan. Let's hear how sublime is doing and for Gargamel to weigh in before deciding anything. I should be ok as long as I can leave here by 3:00. Adding the first major snowstorm to the normal Friday evening commute is a killer but I'll avoid it. Do we need advance tickets for the Annoyance Theatre, or can we make a final decision tomorrow?
Given that we don't know who is going to show up, I'd prefer to wait on the tickets. I'm pretty confident we can buy them at the door. Also, they might be available from the Hot Tix location downtown, so if I have a reasonably accurate headcount tomorrow I can try to buy the tickets on my lunch hour.
Worst case scenario: the show is sold out and we go to the Green Mill. It's win/win.
Gargamel hasn't posted since Sunday. Hope all is well, G!
Agreed, joe. I'll see if the Duke of Perth accepts reservations for small parties once we have a headcount.
ARGGGGHHHH!!!!!
I just spent way too much time trying to get Mr B checked in (online) for his flight in the morning. I finally gave up, called the airline, waited 20 minutes for a human, and was told his flight for tomorrow morning has already been cancelled due to the expected weather. WTF, it isn't even snowing yet!!! Thankfully, we found out today and didn't wait until tomorrow to check in at the airport. I got him rebooked on a later flight and I'll probably head downtown as soon as I drop him off at O'Hare around noon. I'll keep myself occupied until it's time to start collecting folks.
Stay tuned...
Well after driving to work to fill out all the necessary workmans comp bs I went back to the Doctor. It was first come first serve starting at 8 and I didn't get there til 9. After waiting an hour to be registered they tell me that I can't be seen by anyone until I have a case number. That takes 48 hours and their orthopaedic guy only works Thursdays. Long story short I get a reccommendation from my company and try a different place and they actually do tests! The doctor tells me to stop taking what the other doctor prescribed and gave me different meds and that I sprained a tendon in my back. Some rest, physical therapy and medicine and I should be as good as new.
I can meet you guys at Perth tomorrow but don't want to commit to the entire night, I am going to see how it goes.
Thanks for the well wishes everyone.
Keeping my fingers crossed (which includes everyone and everything looking not so good!) ...
The new doctor didn't look like this, did he?
Update -- Schools are closed today which solved two of my conflict dilemmas for tonight. K doesn't have a basketball game to cheer at and the fundraiser scheduled for this evening is also cancelled. I dropped Mr B off at O'Hare around 11:00 for a 1:50 flight and headed back home. He called me as I was approaching Touhy to tell me his flight was cancelled. I went back to O'Hare, picked him up, went to my office in Rosemont, rescheduled his flight (not until tomorrow afternoon now) and just got home.
He's giving some thought to joining us tonight but will probably pass.
Sublime - are you planning on meeting us at the rest, or do you want me to pick you up?
joe - I'll give you a call as I'm approaching the city. I'm still going to try to leave here by three to avoid the traffic. I've printed the directions to the D of P and might suggest meeting you there if I get stuck on the road.
Gargamel - I'll pm you contact info.
****! I may have missed the boat here. Just poking my head out from a tunnel of work. I'll try to meet everybody at the Perth, though I don't know what time.
Hope to see y'all.
Depending on when I get out of this tower of darkness.
Move East to civilization!
sublime, I'm in Budapest now, but sorry to read about your back problem. Hope you recover quickly. T.
Hey, G! Sorry you're so swamped, but glad to hear you're ok (at least I think you're ok). We stayed at the Duke of Perth until about 8:30 and then went over to the Green Mill for a bit. We saved the Annoyance Theatre for another time. 'Twas fun -- maybe next time...
Soooooooo, how'd you like the Fish and chips? (I really liked the Fish myself..)
Yummmmm!!! We all had seconds on the fish. We had an interesting experience at the Green Mill. I'll let Sublime or joe tell you about it.

Thanks CI, feeling much better now, made it back to work today so tomorrow will be the test on how much I have improved. Be safe and have fun on your trip.

October 3rd.... The day after the tree landed on our roof. I received a call yesterday afternoon telling me the roofers would be here today to fix our roof. We've had a blue tarp for coverage for 2.5 months but we're finally getting a new roof. Bang, Bang, Bang Boom, boom BOOM..... music to my ears (but I have a headache).
Hoping, JPB, your headache is gone and the roof fixed by now
