That would explain my burning ears. I thought I was getting stung by bees.

Why wouldn't you ever leave CHicago? Wouldn't you like to see what sane, cultured folks are doing elsewhere?

I spend far too much time in Chicago, Miller. I have almost become jaded. However, visitors come to town and give me a new perspective. Gus just reminded me I could be having breakfast with interesting citizens that I otherwise may neglect. When walter, osso, and c.i. visited Chicago, they posted beautiful photos and made Chicago look new and exciting.

Of course, we only posted photos of such things, we had made exciting and new

Good morning, Walter. I'm sorry you couldn't join us yesterday.

I'm booked at the Palmer House tonight which surprisingly was $80 less than the downtown Marriott. I decided against getting a room in Lincoln Park because the Green Mill for tonight is still iffy (APB out for Sublime) and I can walk just about anywhere downtown from the Palmer House. I'll cab it over to the Green Mill if we end up going there.

joe was asking about tonight's concert. Here is the program:

RODRIGO Concierto de Aranjuez, stunningly beautiful music, I believe it was Diaz playing at a concert in Espana when I first heard it in the early 60's.

I'm looking forward to it, Dys. The Grant Park Music Festival is a series of 34 concerts, all free, as are the open rehearsals from 11:30 - 2:00 for those who want to enjoy lunch in the park.

That sounds nice too, Dys.

Question for the locals and recent guests... I've done the Art Institute 57 times over. Yesterday I noticed LUMA near the Water Tower and plan on checking it out today. The Museum of Modern Art is also close by. Any other suggestions?

Cool, thanks! I can drive over to LSD from the hotel on my way home tomorrow afternoon. I've left a message about a reservation for tomorrow's tour.

J_B, imagine if that would have been the A2K group on the architectural boat tour when the passing bus dumped a load of human waste off the bridge.

Would you, as the hostess, have been a little frustrated?

And what band's bus was that, by the way? I have forgotten.

Gus: it was the Dave Matthews band (they thought it was your swamp)

J_B: the final events in the Gay Games are going on today and tomorrow; some events are on the lakefront

That depends on whether or not I was a recipient of the flying turds. I might have been too busy to be frustrated.

Thanks, I'll check the schedule. Today is filling up but I could go over tomorrow morning and maybe later depending on the availability of the Surgical Museum tour.

Thanks, all!

ah, the marathon runs along the lakefront path from 5:00am till noon. I'll skip the 5:00am but I might catch the end. It depends on how late tonight goes.

As I understand it, Joseph Smith actually said "This is the pits!", but the guy next to him misunderstood and the quote stuck forever. By the way, sublime, I'll be in Chicago from the 3rd to the 9th. Want to meet for a libation?

I copied this over from another thread so that the locals can all find it.

wandeljw, Sublime, joe, and I make up the local 'crew'. I'll send Zane a pm to see if we can get him to join us. He hasn't posted much since moving to Chicago so this might be a good opportunity for him to meet everyone as well.

I'll be in town (staying at the Hilton) from the afternoon of the 2nd until the morning of the 9th. We have tickets to the Cubs game on the 3rd, however.

I just got back from having drinks with JB and Joe, good time tonight glad I was able to make it out.

Cowdoc, maybe we can all plan on meeting up at a bar Friday or Saturday. I might be able to meet after the Cubs game on the 3rd depending on work but I am only a few blocks away from Wrigley.
