I know many people here at A2K could help with this - it should be simple. My husband has never been to New York. He is turning 40 next month and I thought a weekend in New York would be ideal. But where to stay? In the past, I have always stayed with friends on Long Island, but we would want a good location right in the city. What area do you think would be ideal to stay in? And what hotels? I don't want to spend a $1,000 a night, but want something pretty nice with deceit facilities - it is reasonable to stay in the $200 or $300 a night range and still be some one nice?

My cousin comes to New York all the time and they usually stay at pretty nice places. I'll e-mail him. I don't know about that price range though. I'm leaving for the weekend in a little while though, so I might not be able to help you today. I'll be back.

Thanks, Kicky - I have some time to plan so I won't be making final plans for another week or two.

We've collected some good resources here. click

A small gaggle of us will be there in the October 20 - 25 window.

I'd recommend booking sooner rather than later.

The two places that are on my list to stay next year are booking in April now.

~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm staying at a place I found through craigslist.org for the October trip. Definitely affordable.
<$160 for two people. Taxes included. Park Ave and 75th>
