Even in winter, Mt Auburn enchanted me. I parked in a corner I am not as familiar with and slip-slide-squished my way through the ice and mud. I found an au naturel glen with pine-needle pathways and stepping stone head stones. A hawk called above me and watched me while I talked to it. Leaves, seeds, needles burned holes through the ice. A even found some coyote scat. Coyotes in Cambridge. I also found some old 'friends' - the shell headstone and the tree's knees..... This year marks Mt. Auburn's 175th anniversary.
This headstone was a globe. It had every major land mass on it. Here's North and South America
A celtic cross had much detail, here is one small section of it
On a hill overlooking Halcyon Lake is a monument to Mary Baker Eddy, these stairs lead up to a rose garden under stone gazebo
