Did anyone of you see this movie? I thought it was really, really good, giving us a true look at how bias and prejudice works across cultures.

The irony of the outcomes was realistic and a bit of magic was an aspect, which always leaves one wondering.

Here's a link to the film:

Not seen it yet but its on my list, looks meaty and quite grown up like a film would be with proper actors like Susan Sarandon etc but has a younger generation cast.
Looking forward to seeing it.

material girl, when you do, see if you can explain the "miracle" part of the film to me. One worked; one didn't.

(the forum is extremely slow for me today)

My mom called last night and urged me to see it. What a coincidence.

Laughing Oh, my Gawd, M.G. The Blair Witch project? I have a young friend who thought that movie was real.

Not to worry, though. This isn't complicated. You'll catch it immediately.

Funny anecdote.

When I rented the movie at my local video store, there was this delightful kid who asked me if I meant the video game, Crash. I explained that I didn't do video games, and he launched into an extremely articulate explanation. Being the teacher that I am, I asked him about school and his favorite subject. He replied:

Math.

I then, of course, asked him about English to which he replied:

Don't like it. Very Happy

I had this mental note that here was an extremely bring young man who may be "a child left behind."

blue 1, Welcome to A2K. Incidentally, change "bring" to bright.

Last night, I didn't watch much of anything, blue. Just some boring things on TV.

Did you understand the reverse "miracles" part of Crash?

Well, blue. The older Spanish gentleman shot the man who could not fix his door, and the man's child had jumped into his arms to protect her father. Neither of them was hurt.

The young black man who had his life together and carried the metal cross, was killed because the driver of the car thought he had a gun.

Make sense?

Which miracle worked for you, Letty? Which one didn't?

I saw the movie this weekend.

Man, I got verklempt when the Persian man shot the little girl, and she told her daddy that it was ok, that she was protecting him, thinking those were her last dying words. I had to fight back the tears.

So, the red box that the Persian man's daughter bought was a box of blanks.

Was the thug's with the St. Christopher death supposed to be miraculous?

Infrablue, As I can understand it, that is exactly what happened. The problem that I had, and I truly hate to admit it, was recognizing the ethnic culture to which each person belonged. So the man with the little girl was Persian? and the irate man who shot at the both of them, was hispanic, right?

Now I realize that the hispanic man's daughter is the one who got the blanks because she recognized how volatile her father was.

Here is what the movie conveyed to me. That no culture nor ethic group is exempt from bias. It was just ironic that everyone was really betrayed in the long run. The black kid who was truly the equalizer, died in spite of his icon, and the other black guy who was resentful, lived to bear the sorrow.

The man who fired the gun, the store owner, was Persian. The guy and his little daughter were Hispanic.

The resentful guy, though, did buy some kind of retribution by letting the Thai's in the van go free.
