On Tuesday US President George W. Bush chastised the UN Human Rights Commission saying in effect that the commission was an example of UN hypocrisy.

"When this great institution's member states choose notorious abusers of human rights to sit on the UN Human Rights Commission, they discredit a noble effort and undermine the credibility of the whole organization," he said.

"If member countries want the United Nations to be respected and effective, they should begin by making sure it is worthy of respect."

Back in the US, about a week earlier a three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that el presidente possesses the authority to deny a US citizen his rights granted him by the US Constitution, and detain him militarily.
