For those who like it sweet and short, I am giving up my political presence online, to spend my time as a writer. Thank you to you who have followed me,
MY DECLARATION
I am thoroughly political. Have been from birth. I was cruelly molded by a conspiracy of genetics, direst poverty, ten years of childhood bullying by a stepfather, autism, and the Great Depression. Outside of my home I was almost totally mute. I lived life at the subliminal level, but with eyes that could see, with a functioning brain to look and evaluate. In short, I would have needed a stepladder to reach the bottom of society, but it was visible to me what society is and does. My mother gave me occasional clues that resonated, such as a recounting of an incident where she felt embarrassed by a young man on a bus who would not allow a black woman to sit beside him in the only empty seat.
At around age nine my teacher taught us about the torture/murder of Emmitt Till. At the same time the New Deal still was touted and still had traction, which gave me some hope that the people's fortunes would keep improving from the depression and the war. Various cracks appeared in that logic as I grew up and served in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the draft sending our young to Vietnam. (To this day Vietnam believes América could re-invade and has drawn plans of resistance) The Civil Rights and Peace Movements became my causes. Phil Ochs voiced my radicalization very well.
I watched helplessly as the anti war and civil rights activities became less potent and at the same time resistance to the New Deal gathered steam.
Presidents Reagan and Clinton in particular spearheaded events that transformed the Democratic Party into a conservative entity. The richest Americans were subverting both parties all along. GW Bush revived full scale colonization. Wars for the sake of profit and colonization became the norm.
Skipping to the present, the corruption that controls our destiny is growing more powerful daily. Run by thoroughly evil businessmen and politicians.
I have spoken out for decency my entire life as the world around me devolves. At age 83, my faith in humanity is now nil. I believe the vast majority are decent folks. But they have vast numbers, yet remain obedient and passive.
I owe myself a break. I've reached the end of my involvement. From now on, I mav follow events; I no longer will speak out. I'm spending my final days writing fiction and doing the innocuous on social media. So, to any who have followed me, I say, good luck and thank you. Exuent - eb
Well, yeah. That doesn't mean you're leaving us, does it?

@edgarblythe,
Politically, you've been very circumspect since you last returned to this site so it shouldn't be much of a change. We know what side you're on and respect your right to devote yourself to "writing fiction and doing the innocuous on social media". Echoing Roger, I hope you stick around.

@edgarblythe,
Good luck with everything.
I'm currently in the process of moving and decorating, so I'm not posting much.

I consider a2k part of the family. I'm not leaving, just shifting focus.
I don't know what else to say, but this makes me ache mentally. I have never seen you as a political advocate, you have always just spoken your heart. Please remember forever that I see you as a friend, I've always enjoyed your company.........just write about whatever you want to write.....I see many friends responding to your post, everyone wants to be with you, so please don't leave. We would miss you too much. GB (you know what my real name is)

I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis. I was living in Miami at the time. Yes, we sent those Russian missiles packing, but did anyone notice that we quietly removed an important radar installation in Turkey that overlooked a fairly important section of the Soviet Union?

@glitterbag,
I don't intend to leave a2k, just renouncing politics, leaving it to the younger ones. Devoting my efforts to myself and friends.
