Hardy, Fair To Mddlin' Food
We're for the hardy folks, those who don't mind low quality food at cheap prices.
We admit it. Our meat is utility grade and tough. We pound it, hack it, flaggelate it, and grind it because it's tough. But, you folks don't mind because you're hardy, and it's cheap
Goober's
Home of the five-pound chicken fried steak
Dairy Glandular Queen
Frozen treats made from bovine glandular secretions. "But it tastes so good!"
Bâton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar (Canadian chain)
Baton Rouge means red stick. "The name comes from a blood-stained pole that French explorers found in 1699 to mark a boundary."
Why a restaurant chain would be named Red Stick is the question, but I guess if you can name a city Baton Rouge, then you can name a restaurant the same. It's better than Bloody Stick, I guess.
Wendy's
They are shutting down hundreds of locations. I hope this includes the one near our Walmart.
@edgarblythe,
They've just opened one up in Southampton.
@izzythepush,
I've eaten at some Wendy's that were clean and gave good service and good food. Not so with the one I mentioned.
Chuck It Cheese
Restaurant for kid's parties. All the pizza and sweets they can eat until they puke.
Dummy's
Knock off Denny's for customers who can't read
Pulqueria
A Mexican establishment that serves pulque, a fermented, non-distilled drink derived from the sap of the agave plant.
Cheelies
Dumb dishes, slightly expensive
Nothing Bundt Cakes
Imagine a bakery with a name that is a play on words. A bundt cake (German: Bund kuchen for group gathering) is basically an oversized donut, a cake with a hole in the middle for more even baking.
Nothing Bundt Cakes is very successful with over 550 locations in the US and Canada especially catering to parties. The cakes are often tiered and elaborately decorated.
Duncans
Not to be confused with Dunkin. Duncans serves gherkins with coffee.
Black forest cake
This is probably my favorite cake ever. Chocolate cake with cherries is infused with kirsch (cherry liqueur), and the frosting and filling between layers is whipped cream.
I used to visit a huge Half Price bookstore that had an attached cafe selling black forest cake. I think the cake became the excuse for visiting the bookstore.
493 is the number I think I read of Wendy's restaurants shutting down.
Krystal Hamburgers
They're known for their tiny hamburgers, about 1 once of meat plus about a 1 ounce bun. You could probably eat 8 of them, but that equals a half loaf of bread. That's a lot.
Though, I haven't eaten there a lot, I have to admit they're good.
The Waddle House
The place you go when you wanna get stuffed.
Japanese food vending machines
Food vending machines are a huge deal in Japan, for one, because of a labor shortage. A huge variety of food is offered, and one item that we would consider very odd is horse meat sashimi.
"Horse meat sashimi (Basashi) vending machines: Available in areas like Iijima, Nagano, selling raw, thinly sliced horse meat products like lean and marbled meat."
This is sold frozen to be thawed and eaten raw.
