A friend and I have been going back and forth, challenging eachother with word games. From ciphers to riddles. It's his turn and I believe he has stumped me.
He posted this...
James Madison
George Washington
William Henry Harrison
Rutherford B. Hayes
William McKinley
His only clue was put them in order and solve the formula.
George is 1 and James is #4 but I just don't see the answer.
What the heck? I'm stumped. What am I looking for here.
Could any of you A2k'ers help me out? If you can help solve this one I'll be sure not to lie and tell him you helped me out.
Thanks in advance.
If you put them in order and replace Hayes with Lincoln the sequence goes 1, 4, 9, 16, 25. (Washington is 1, Madison is 4, etc.) These are the square numbers.
But Hayes is 19 so I don't get it either.
I broke down and told him he stumped me.
... It's no wonder I couldn't figure it out.
This is what he responded with.
I'm surprised I stumped you with this. I suppose it was kind of abstract from the outset, but actually pretty simple
Their succession numbers, in the order I placed them, spell out your name when applied to the basic alphabet code.
James Madison 4 = D
George Washington 1 = A
William Henry Harrison 9 = I
Rutherford B. Hayes 19 = S
William McKinley 24 = Y
Well... now that's solved.
Thanks for looking and trying to help.
