How do Japanese train passengers eat?
Ekiben are bento boxes (boxed lunch) that are made and sold especially for train passengers by vendors at stations or on the train. The contents vary regionally and can be complex. Though, most ekiben are eaten cold, some have chemical heating packs to warm the food. Train travel is more common and frequent in Japan than the United States, so there are more opportunities for vendors to sell at stations.
