Today I read that Maryland now has the 3rd highest rate for gasoline. I have to admit I usually don't pay much attention, but when I filled my car up about a week and a half ago, it cost fifty dollars and change to fill up. That was the most I had spent on one tank of gas, ever. Yesterday, I filled up at the pump and the rate was $3.45 a gallon. Same car, same amount of gas, but this time it cost $61.00 to fill up. So in about 2 months our monthly cost for gasoline has doubled. I know that no one is happy about the rapid cost of gasoline, but it's already having a serious impact on everyone.
I am a Board Member of a Non-Profit. The organization main goal is to provide a way for developmentally disabled adults to gain job skills, social skills, as well as provide social outlets. We are not a residential facility, strictly a day operation so it is necessary to transport many of our clients from their homes to the facility. We use 12,000 gallons of gasoline per month just for transportation. The State allows us to purchase gasoline and then refunds a certain amount of the tax back to us.
How has the cost of gasoline and fuel oils affected the people in your State?
