Did you ever come in for a meal when you were very hungry? The meal tastes so much better. The same meal next week won't taste near as good if you are not as hungry. It was not the meal but your being hungry that makes the difference. The same can be said about philosophy if the right condition are created one is much more likely to embrace a philosophy or religion. New Churches spend much more money on their sound system and television than on a steeple. At one time people were more impressed with million-dollar buildings they only had a PA sound system. Now those churches are left with three or aging members while those that meet in old cookie factory are growing. We go to dances because the music makes us feel good. The music in modern day churches makes us receptive to religion. Cults create the proper environment to indoctrinate members. Once you are indoctrinated, they own you and your chance of escaping the cult or religion are slim. The priest that was making a case for sending me to catholic school said, "give him to me and we will have for life." He was dead serious.

Thought for a day our fearless leader said during the pandemic, "There are people dying today who never died before." Evidently, he thinks we are in Zombie Apocalypse. How in the world did that excuse for a man get elected not only once but twice? The Christian right. Trump is both mentally and morally challenged. Since you bet on anything now, where do you go to bet on how high gas prices will go by the end of year? Ten dollars a gallon sounds about right at the rate it is raising now.

You always hear about people born with half a brain it seems that is the case with Trump. Studies show that sociopaths are born without important parts of their brain. Trump might have more than half a brain, but I am not sure.

It is funny which childhood memories stick with us while other evaporate like smoke. One of my earliest financial memories was being sent a box of envelops to contribute to Catholic Church. There was an envelope for each Sunday and holy day. I was not being asked for a contribution but many. I had no job or income yet but was expected to help support the church. My dad would have to contribute my share. To top that off they sent a yearly report of how much money each person contributed that year. This was meant to generate competition and bring in more money. The only time a priest showed up at the house was to ask for a pledge for more money for building project.

Don't you miss that old time religion where you could just burn some random old lady stake and that would be your offering. The government is always claiming that church and state be separate. If that is true how come churches can't continue to burn people at the stake today? That was a legitimate religious function. Some of the western Indian tribes were able to continue using certain illegal drugs during the tribe's religious services. Somehow people forget how twisted and sadistic that old time religion really was.

What is the Christian right to do? Trump policies are destroying the red states. Disel fuel prices are going through the roof making farming more expensive. Trump's constant trade wars destroy markets for American agriculture goods. Importing beef from foreign countries that are tariff free with the clear intent to drive down the cost of beef at the same time farmers cost are going up. When the preacher says vote republican are the farmers going to vote for those who are destroying their way of life or vote for a change. Trump's trade wars are based on whim. The tariffs fluctuate from 10% to 50% depending on Trump's mood but the damage to business that export American goods are catastrophic. The preachers will be beating the drums for the Trump republicans but remember your primary responsibility is to your family and your way of life. The preachers plan to gain political power at your expense.

The preachers all got behind Trump during the presidential election, but this is an off-year election. Signs are beginning to show that Trump is not nearly as popular with his base as he once was. A Trump/republican campaign event that was scheduled down in Kentucky was canceled because only 6, $1,000 tickets were sold. The promoter expected to sell 100, $1,000 tickets to pay for the event. The event had been held in past years. The rich seem to be sending Trump a message. This event was to have featured Trump's sons.

Religion is all about power and when you set up a power structure there will be other who find it the perfect structure to exploit.

Can you imagine a country where the majority of children were molested? Those that were doing the molesting had to be molesting a great number of children. These priests can't possibly believe what they are telling the suckers coming through the door. If these priests really believed they would burn in hell for all eternity, they would not molest children. The church itself was responsible for enabling the priests, they tried to avoid a scandal. Mankind survived believing that the group was more important than the individual. Some would sacrifice their life so the group would survive. The catholic church applied this principal to the child molestation problem. It was necessary that the children be sacrificed for the good of the church's reputation. It did not solve the problem it did not pretend to solve the problem it only shoved it under the rug. The church's reputation becomes far more important than any group of individuals. Human sacrifices were big in the bible and sacrificing a few more was not a problem with church officials.

Jesus may or may not have started a religious after he died men took over and started thousands of other religious cult. Each of those cults traces its origin back to the original Jesus cult and claims to be the one true church. The term "one true church" has become meaningless because so many religious cults claim it.

If you went into prison and asked who was innocent, almost every hand would go up. Even those caught on camera would say it was somebody that looked like them. If you went to a convention of churches and asked who was from the one true church all the hands would be raised even the sect that had never been heard of till last century would be sure they were the one true church. History teaches us when the first sect broke with the Catholic church. How does the splinter suddenly become the tree? They claim to have already existed in the mother church, and the mother church just left them. The splinter groups left the mother church based on difference on articles of faith. Because you disagree does not qualify you as the one true church.

Reality-Jesus started 1 single religion, these serve the God Israel served= a single being God=YHWH(Jehovah)--After the true followers were murdered, the great apostasy( 2 Thess 2:3) rose up in the 2nd century, turned into Catholicism and hundreds of branches=a mass of confusion.

There is an actual history that was recorded and not imagined, and your version is a product of self-serving imagination. It is like a giant game of whisper where each child whispers a statement to another child. He whispered it to next child. So on and so on around the table. At the end the original statement does not resemble the finished statement. The game of whisper you are involved in went on for 300 years before anything was written down. When the writing took place 15 generations had passed. How much do you know about your family 15 generations ago? We are lucky to know about three generations. The writing is simply self-serving and has nothing to do with what happened generation ago. The broad brush of history is not as self-serving and more accurate. The strongest driving force in religion is self-interest and never ever underestimate self-interest as a motive.

I think Hitchens left out one important thing from his list, death. Certainly, some of the things on Hitchins’s list could result in death. Death is the one thing none of us will ever escape. Mankind has spent thousands of years trying to escape the grim reaper but the best he can do is to escape into his imagination.

God used holy spirit to guide righteous men to write down what he wanted written. Yes Catholicism screwed it up in the 4th century. But it is fixed now-The New world translation.

It is like building the empire state building on a foundation of air. You have to remember who the righteous men were at the time, the mentally ill they were thought to be touched by God and considered to be special. So, the mentally ill founded religion. Any claims of contact from the supernatural is nonsense. When someone you know claims to hear voices whether it be God or the devil he needs help not encouragement or to be told he was "a righteous man."

Sadly you stand in opposition to God and his king. He is about to show the world their error.

It is hard to stand in opposition to nothing. God is not dead he never existed. We are always at the end of times. There is always a group of Christians proclaiming the end is near. Some Christians sects gave specific times when the world would end, when the world did not end, they simply gave another time. This has been going as long as Christianity existed, and they will still be proclaiming the end of time 25 million years from now. That alone should tell you all you need to know about Christianity.
