Useful bits of information and resources on the aftermath of hurricane Katrina:

This is a list of all postal service areas by zipcode that have been affected enough by the hurricane to halt delivery of mail service.

Will help people pinpoint specific areas in the region to know if friends and family were in the damage path.

have packages sitting in the Federal Express office in NO sort building - according to the tracking info - could be a small chance to get those back or re-routed.

The assistant postmaster was on TV yesterday stating that inorder to get mail delivered to the displaced. All that need be done is to go to a local PO and fill out a change of address document. Regardless where, in what state or city, you happened to find yourself and even if it is a temporary residence. Mail will be delivered.
