I never have. Might have been a better route that carrying 2 liters of water up 4k' of stairs.
I would say so. Of course, your hike wasn't that long, so carrying the water was probably the best idea.

Day hike, carry water. Overnight, take a purification pump. Purification tablets sure, cuz they weigh nothing.
Someone makes a litter bottle that has a filter in it. Fill up the bottle and when you stream it through the tip, the watre first passes through the filter before exiting the bottle. Wow. Did that make ANY sense at all?
