I wonder whether there is any modern direct descendants of ancient Latin and ancient Greek.
Sorry for my stupidity. Just curious.
Not of Classical Latin. But certainly of Vulgar Latin > Iberian/Gallic/Italian/Balkan.
Italian became later ... Italian; Balkan Romanian; Gallic French and Provencal; I berian Spanish and Portuguese.
Ancient Greek just became Modern Greek
also catalan, langue d'oc, Romansch, nissart...
Is modern Greek quite different from ancient Greek? Or can modern people in Greece read ancient Greek?
Wikipedia explains it quite nicely

The alphabet is exactly the same, which was formed at 8th century BC. In fact the language is the same, but with many differences in word meanings and in grammar forms.

No, it is the same. The letter Β,β is pronounced like V in both ancient and modern Greek.
Well thats not how I learnt it.. The word Alphabet seems to clearify that... Alpha Beta etc.,
Modern Greek sounds like Alpha Veta etc.,
