When there is a car accident in New York State, is there a way that a member of the public can on the Internet or otherwise, can look up whether the driver at fault was in Assigned Risk car insurance?

@gollum,
I doubt it. That's none of your business.

@Mame,
Mame-

Thank you.

I guess you are right to doubt it.

As to it being none of my business, if the laws of our society don't permit me to have the information, then it becomes none of my business.

That said, I have reason to believe that drivers with Assigned Risk insurance cause a disproportionate number of accidents. Thus a disproportionate number of innocent people are put in wheelchairs or life ... or into coffins.

I would like to stop that.

There's a way: End Assigned Risk insurance!

So, you would eliminate what's possibly the only $ one of those quadriplegics or bereaved families can get? And you would eliminate the only way some people can get insurance so they can drive and get to their jobs or take their kids to school?

What do you imagine would take its place? How do you imagine the quads, widows, and orphans would get any compensation? Are you okay with able-bodied people going on welfare because you think they shouldn't get insurance? There are lots of parts of New York state where you need a car to get anywhere.

Insurance exists to spread risk. Is this a perfect system? Of course not. Nothing is. But it beats the hell out of going after a thoroughly uninsured motorist.

@jespah,
jespah-

Being permitted to drive on public roads is a privilege, not a right. A car in the hands of an irresponsible person can maim or kill innocent people.

If my proposal were settled law, I think many horrible injuries and deaths would have been avoided.

Those persons denied the privilege of driving would need to make dramatic changes in their lives. Perhaps move to addresses from which they could get to work. Change employment.

@izzythepush,
The character in those comics that you posted lies about other people exactly like you lie about other posters here on a2k.

@oralloy,
That is a really execrable sentence.

A cartoon strip can't lie, it's representation of a type of person.

Your understanding, and use, of English is like that of a primary school kid.

No it isn't. It may well be above your reading level however.

The representation in the above comics fits you perfectly.

I'm not the one who just had trouble figuring out a long sentence.

@oralloy,
Again, repetitive low brow comments on the line of no I'm not you are Bart Simpson type of "repartee."

So boring, so yesterday, so circular.

@izzythepush,
Perhaps you shouldn't go around falsely accusing people of not having a sound grasp of English when you can't even understand a moderately complex sentence yourself.

When you falsely accuse your betters of your own shortcomings you should expect to be put in your place.
