Problem water
Before you set out to treat problem water you really need to know what your dealing with.
Test the water and pay close attention to the following...
Iron: what kind? (there are 4 possibilities). How much of each in ppm.
Ph: You need to make sure the Ph is 7.1 or above or your system will fail to remove iron.
You should use a softener as the the final step in any problem water treatment system.

Hydrogen sulfide is a colorless gas with an offensive stench and is said to smell like rotten eggs
or "sulfur" it is easily reduced with 1.5 cubic feet of Catalytic Carbon in a backwashing filter.
IMHO, Air Injection and Potassium permanganate/Greensand filters no mater what brand are a waste of time and money.
I replace them often.
