Well, that's the most sensible solution. Has that ever happened? Do you think it'd work with the makeup of these particular parties?

Not really. I think if McCarthy can't pull it off, one of his lieutenants will step up. For a relatively moderate Republican to step up would require a significant rebellion.

Yeah... there's already talk about it. Why doesn't McCarthy just acquiesce? Obviously he's never going to get elected. Four votes today. Someone must be talking to him.

If it was a secret vote, some moderate Republicans might have voted for Jeffries.
