Japanese symbols of American names

If you're to transliterate foreign (as in not japanese) names into japanese, Kanji is the wrong system of characters to use as it is used as an extension of the japanese character set into chinese. There is another set of characters called Katakana, which is the norm to use in transliterations.

Chad in Katakana would then be "Chado", or "チャド", where I believe the fraction "チャ" (cha) is specially designed for transliterations, since the pronounciation isn's originally featured in japanese. The chinese "xia" or "cha" would in japanese normally be "sa".

Stacy would transliterate "ステス" (sutesu). Daniel "ダニエル" (danieru). Chadra "チャドゥラ" (chadura). Destinee "デステニ" (desuteni). And Shavauna "シャヺナ" (shavona).

Note that I am in no means an expert, but until one of those, or a japanese native comes, I think this is pretty close. Also note that the transliterated names sound more alike the originals when pronounced in japanese. ;-)

Guessing you are looking for Japanese Kanji, so
Strength 強さ
Honor 光栄
Family 家族

only the following among the words and names on your list can be translated

DESTINY = 運命 （unmei)
STRENGTH = 力 (chikara)
HONOR=光栄 (kouei)
FAMILY=家族 (kazoku)

names of person especially Western names cannot directly be translated to Japanese much more cannot be translated to Kanji. Only japanese words in general can be translated to Kanji... if it is a foreign word for them... they will use KATAKANA characters.

so the names

Chad = チャッド (chaddo)
Stacy = ステーシ (suteeshi) or ステイシ (suteishi)
Daniel = ダニエル (danieru) or　デイニエル (deinieru)
Chadra = チャドラ　(chadora) or チャッドラ (chaddora)
Destinee = デスティニー (destiny)
Shavauna = シャヴォナ (shavona)

remember that writing foreign words in Katakana does not depend on the spelling but on the pronunciation. Japanese have no "L" so they use "R" instead (most of the time).

As others have noted, you've got to use katakana for foreign names. I had a few friends give me Kanji for my name as a sayonara gift, but I would never write them out to a stranger. My understanding is that it would seem rude or at the very least strange. I don't think this same in Chinese because they only use the kanji-like characters.
