If I use my Smartphone to call a person whom I do not know, can the recipient of my call learn my name?
I believe he will see my Smartphone's phone number but not, as far as I know, will it show my name.

I think he will only see your name if he has added you as a Contact. I get scam calls all the time with just a number showing up. There also might be a blocking key or something. You should Google it for your phone and find out.
