Rape victims deserve what they get too. And murder victims. And people who lose their jobs. And people who are homeless. Please.

I was thrown by the poll and what appears to be the point of this thread.

Yes, the media are going over the top on this (take Nancy Grace, please), but no, the girl didn't deserve to be raped and/or murdered.

I think it is a bit harsh to call it her own damn fault this happened. She made a bad decision, but she certainly did not deserve to be harmed as a result. I cannot imagine that you never made a bad decision before. Have you ever made a mistake driving? Did you result in your death? Because you maybe drove too fast or drove through a yellow light when you could have stopped, does that mean you should have been killed in a car crash? The fault lies with those that caused the crime.

As far as fair that she gets so much attention - I think any missing child or person deserves as much attention that can be humanly given to find them no matter the circumstances. Perhaps what should be discussed is it unfair that others do not get the media attention they deserve. Also, I think it is just not the fact that she is angelic looking, white and young, but also where it occurred. In a resort island that has been considered reasonably safe to vacation.
