Hi, Rock! I had 2 intensive semesters of Norwegian, and at times have gone online to "play" with reading Swedish sites (the 2 languages are not that different). Depending on what you've got there, I might be able to help you (if there's nobody else here who really knows Swedish well). Also, if it's a document or something heavy-duty like that, you might just take it to a college nearby where they teach Norwegian or Swedish.

Jag vet inte fan vad jag ska göra med katie. jag känner som en del av mig verkligen tycker om henne, men jag tror att jag är inte attraherad till henne. Men, jag vet inte. Vi får se. Men det känns jobbigt iaf. Stereon beter sig så jävla konstigt. Johan borde lämna jävla skiten tillbaka till takt och ton. dom där jävlarna får leka med det. Oj, jag och johan var på hertsö träsket idag. det var skojj. vi fiskade i nästan 2 timmar, och fångade en jävla abborre..EN jävla styk! Men, dom nappade hela tiden, åt hur många maskar som helst, men vi fick en enda jävla fisk. Sen kom jävla fisk gubben. oj vad johan nästan sket på sig. Hahaha! Men, vi fick ingen böta, så det var bra. Men fan vad skulle vi ha gjort? Stack! Hahaha! Jaja, men det var grejjer. Jag längtar till onsdag. Vi ska ju ut då. Och jag kommer hem om 13 dagar. Det är ju läskigt hur fort tid går. Men, jag saknar mina vänner och familj, så det blir nog bra. Hmmm..Sara och danne åkte till nordkapen. hoppas dom har kul där. ugh, om bengt betallar allt åt danne..fan heller. skitsamma, jag borde inte bry mig om sånt. ummm...annars är jag lite uppspelt att åka hem. vill ju träffa laura hur fort som möljigt och fara tillbaka till GR. Måste köpa mina böcker, och andra övriga grejer. Ugh, jag har inte gått ner en kilo sen jag kom. Vad besvikande. Men, jag försökte inte ens. Och, jag har typ inte tränat ett skit. Men, jag kommer banta till hösten, så det blir bra. Men, hur många år har jag sagt det? MÅNGA! Whatever, det löser sig. Jag vill färga om mitt hår. slingorna har blivit lite mörkare, det eller så har mitt hår växt ut lite.. Oh vad trött jag är. Jag väntar på Stephen, men jag vet inte om jag ids hålla öppna ögonen. Kanske ska till beachen imorgon, men får se om det blir nått fint väder. förhoppningsvis. Jag ska gå och göra nåt annat nu. Jaja, jag är trött. Åker hem snart =(

Yikes, aerobix for the mind, LOL! OK, lemme give it a shot.
"I don't know what I'm going to do with Katie. I feel like a piece of me really cares about (?---I could not find this for the life of me) her, but I believe I'm not attracted to her. But I dunno. We'll see." And here the translator's capacity went pfuuuuuhhh!
I think probably part of my difficulty is that they're using slang. He does talk about catching some sort of fish (if I'm not wayyyy off base)...He's coming home in 13 days...He misses his friends and family.......But, how many years did he say that? MANY! Whatever (LOL, he uses the English word!), it'll all work out somehow.
Sorry this is so terribly spotty. If I had a decent dictionary (the one online is awwwwwrrrful!), I could probably help you out better. Hopefully somebody with Swedish proficiency will turn up soon! Good luck!

Well, such as it was....I'm hoping to get my hands on some Swedish dictionaries at the area libraries and then come back to the task. Translating something like this is for me what crossword puzzles are for a lot of other folks!

The person who wrote that excerpt from the live journal above must have been drunk. It's mostly nonsensical ramblings with words spelt the way they sound and lots of bad language. Must be a nightmare for a non native Swedish speaker to translate that.
The person in question is apparently missing family and friends, and he is excited about going back home and meeting Laura as fast as possible and about going back to GR(?). Also, he's undecided about what to think about Katie, and a what to do about her. He also says that he's going home soon.
The rest is about an unsuccessful fishing trip with someone called Johan, about a useless stereo, about his hair (he wants to dye his hair because his strands are going dark) and about his weight (he mention that he's disappointed about not losing any weight since getting there).
As for the use of English, it's quite common for young Swedes to throw in some English words now and then, which is probably a result of all the countless American/English TV shows broadcast here, and because there are some useful words/phrases in English that don't translate to Swedish very well. "Whatever" is a perfect example of such a word. There isn't really any Swedish equivalent, so many people simply use the English word.

Takk, Derevon, for your intercession here! You saved my linguistic self-esteem.
I am so glad to hear it wasn't just my own deficiency that rendered it impossible for me to decipher this, LOL! I have done much better at Swedish sites where there's, say, info about some summer camp, or similar.

I understood it, as I have a Swedish friend who is dyslexic, and I had to learn to understand him when he wrote.... but... well... it didn't look worth translating to me :-P
Can you help translate Swedish to English Emigration forms?
I am working on our Family tree and have 3 documents from my great grand parents emigration from Boras Sweden. They are in Swedish and giving me trouble. If you would be willing to look at them I have them scanned and can email them. I am unable to find my relatives still residing in Sweden because they changed their last name. I think that these forms may help me over that barrier. Thank you

If you need swedish to english translation ask me. Im Swedish and have read english for about 5 years now so I can probebly translate almost everything to english!
