I am afraid, I cannot understand what is the meaning of the word "lysicses".
Do you mean "Lyrics"?
I think they're not too hard to understand. What is meant by this is that I think you may have some difficulties in catching the sentences, don't you?
So you must improve you listening competence and skills.

"I would give my heart away and pray"

"Giving one's heart" to the beloved is an entrenched English idiom. The heart stands for love, the sort of love that occupies the core of the lover's being.

The singers would give his heart to his beloved and then pray to whatever gods....

....that his lover prospered?

....that his love was returned?

....that they would live happily ever after?

What he would pray for isn't clear, here.

and that's something important to remember, alex - song lyrics have to fit the rhythm, and they have to evoke a mood - they don't necessarily have to be grammatical or make sense! So, as Stuh says, if you can't make sense of the words of a song, it may be that strictly speaking there is no sense, not that your English is inadequate.
