The English Premier League (EPL) kicks off today Friday the 13th.

The Fantasy Premier League obviously also starts today.

Week 1 begins at 19.30 English time. To be in the league proper from the start you must have registered by 18.30 today the 13th.

Surprise result in the first match of the season as Brentford (The Bees) beat Arsenal (The Gunners) 2 - 0.

I expect a lot more surprises this season.

Didn't see that game but understand United played well - the bastids. Clearly the bet builder didn't pay - I think Ayling scored for Leeds. What about a Shaw assist and Maguire's two chances? Hopefully none of them happened as missing three from an accumulator is psychologically less damaging!

Great to see City beaten. Have a soft spot for Nuno - really hope he has success at Spurs.

I like Nuno too. I think Pep & City have lost the plot if they think Kane is the answer to their striker problems. And 100 million for Grealish ?? are they mad or what.

They must be sick as Messi became available a day or two after they'd bought Grealish. They could have got him for nothing, well a hefty wage bill but he'd have been worth it.

I see Ronaldo's become available, he's ten times the player Kane is. But seemingly Pep wants Kane ??? who am I to question Pep.

As for this League of ours.

I watched a good movie last night, Heartbreakers. Gene Hackman who you'd usually see as the tough guy is hilarious in it as the smoker.

He was also really funny in Young Frankenstein. Do you remember the blind man scene with Hackman and another great Peter Boyle.

No team could have lived with Limerick in that first half today. Best display I've ever seen.

To my shame, have never seen Young Frankenstein. Love Mel Brooks humour. He once described a scene that was ultimately cut from Blazing Saddles where Madeleine Kahn was 'pleasuring' Cleavon Little's character. She murmured something about all the rumours she had heard about black men being true to which Little replied "You're sucking my arm!" Brooks said they had to cut it from the movie because it was TOO MUCH. It was JUST TOO MUCH!

It was an amazing display by Limerick. That's 3 of the last 4 All Irelands for them now and I can only see them adding to that.
I think Liam MacCarthy's a Limerick resident for the foreseeable future.

What was the biggest surprise of the week?.
