THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN US FOOTBALL AND WORLD FOOTBALL

1World football players are ususally thin and wiry dudes who often look malnourished (and, for some countries, apparently are)

2US Football players are genetically selected and fed like Kobe Beef in order to bulk up like Sumo Rasslers. (I realize that this is a generaliation and that there are all body types within the specialty teams , but its my thread)

@farmerman,
World football is known as the 'beautiful game', what is US football known as?

To me, comparisons are irrelevant. One is futball, the other football. It's like preferring Little Willie John's version of Fever and hating Peggy Lee. Or loving her and hating Litlle Willie. I don't see why one cannot accept and appreciate both. I have learned in recent times to do so.

@farmerman,

football has way less action than futbol, yet is more compelling when it does...

@Region Philbis,
Futball is played before tens of millions of drunken fans, while football is played before millions of drunken fans

Rosie Grier would have crushed any one of the futball players. Razz

@edgarblythe,
Rosy Grier would've been puking his guts out by the 23rd minute. Wink

@farmerman,
futbal players are dressed in minimal garb and have high speed shows

Football players are encased in high tech armor which seems to cause more trauma than if they were playing naked

When one of the skinny ones tried to slide his foot past Rosie to take away the ball, it would have been the end of his career.

@edgarblythe,
Rosy could've played goalie...by just standin' still.

@panzade,
I think we have the Mass X Velocity** concept down. Futbal is one of two games, (cricket being the other) where a game can go on for days and not have a score, AND the fans would be all enthused about it. With that announcer who yels "SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORERRREREERERRE, Geico feels that he could make a quilting bee sound exciting.

Football, is truly like a game of chess played with semi trailers

@farmerman,
I like both too.. though just learning futbol.

anyway, the players in futbol run much much more, and there are no timeouts to give them a break (well, maybe when someone is injured, but I'm not clear on that, and I think if there is a break, it's added on to the game time at the end); they seem to run all over the place for at least ninety minutes.

@ossobuco,
I've kind of deduced that futball injuries are technically called "flops".

@roger,
Seems like a big percentage are floppy. Interesting, it also seems the US team doesn't do that.

@ossobuco,
I have to say, I haven't followed the sport closely enough to notice.
