The following is a thread which himself originated. It ends abruptly as do many threads on forums.


this was put down on abuzz at 5:53 mst, 29 january ce,

this one knows not when a presidential address re the "ship of state" will be made this
day; i dinna
have a television, and the signal here in the mountains carries not the words from far off
(in many senses), the words which the pressident will utter; the text, i assume, will be
in tomorows on-line ny times.

so - i speak not of what has been said, since i have no knowledge thereof; rather, i
address the essence of what i would hear, if yhwh were good:

i would hear of positive future years for this land, for itself and its citizens, nay as
the face and soul of the world. that has passed, and that be well.

i would hear of reason and justice, of the true variety. with no pay-back due except to
truth and honor.

i would .....

from the name, i presume ye be of irish ancestry; that the case,
i would remind ye of the term for that green islae, the isle of "
saints & scholars" it was/is called.

now - none of us, i firmly belive, qualify for the first
chacteristic, but, but, some of us can qualify for the second.

indeed, a response to what lad ? that which i wrote yesterday ?

ye, and the Un-Named one, must retreat from your mindless acid
throwing, and devote yourselves to a draft from the well of
reason and truth; aye a long draft, enough to flush from the
(your) minds system the matter (feces is part of it, ye speak of
it often) in sufficient quantity to leave but sentient
thought/words only.

cogito no more lad; rather, instinctively take the path of reason
(it be in ye), with the Un-Known in tow.

harry the king would nay be immortalized if ye (both) had been
the "band of brothers". he, and the other gallent ones, would be
buried on the agencourt fields - a tragic loss.

for this one, and for the others on this medium of similar

I remember Himself, but I didn't remember that some people were hostile toward him. I guess we have always been blighted by unnecessary hostility.

Himself was a peace loving individual, nothing about him was radical (in my opinion)

THe trolling on Abuzz got out of hand after a while. I was dumb enough to troll some of them back at the end.

And then there was Timberland, the only guy I ever knew who could use
"figgers" and "Abrahamic mythopoeia" in the same post and get away with it.

I liked him, too. Actually, I liked pretty much everybody I was involved with.

Great guy. I liked him more every time I read his stuff.

Im losing it. He was known as White Fang on A2K right? His interests were worldwise.

does anyone recall HUGH JASS from Abuzz? I recall his musings being at th front end of Abuzz downfall.

I remember HUGH JASS, but only for the name. "Being from Andora" was the oft-repeated tagline of somebody on there.

I remember him.

I found Abuzz when my son got a new computer and the NYT's was included as a feature. Actually he found it and hooked me up, even picking my name (long story). I think I signed up around 1997 or 98, I don't remember when it shut down but I know when they stopped moderating the forum it got crazy and really mean.

Yeah, the NYT got cold feet when the dot.com bubble collapsed. They got rid of almost all the staff and quit supporting it. Things got ugly.

1. I actually don't have any animosity toward you.
2. Yes, there are a few people I think are rotten, but you are not one of those people.
3. My main issue with you is that you often try to control a discussion.
4. It is very easy to engage in a discussion without having to have to control the discussion.
5. I can't speak for anyone else, but my opinions are my own.
6. It doesn't matter if my opinions are similar to a group of like-minded people.
7. We are still individuals who just happen to share similar views.
8. (Sometimes) you make good points.
9. You can make your points without the need of controlling a discussion.
10. There are many occasions when I disagree with your points of view and opinions.
11. But, that isn't always the case.

1. Are you certain that you at least try to understand how they are feeling?

2. Sometimes, I get the feeling that you don't.

3. Don't get me wrong. When I feel that a person is rotten, I could care less about their feelings.

4. Or in some cases, I feel the need to set a person straight, which may result in hurting their feelings.
