As a child (10-12), i used to get this pain in my left leg under the kneecap, around the tendon. I first got it whilst swimming with no pain around my leg previously, I did a martial art when I was younger. It would hurt whenever i moved the leg and the pain would only stop when I completely straightened my leg, which would result in a loud click or snap. Does anyone know what this is, why it was caused and if it could cause difficulties later in life.

I remember my daughter having something like that - I forget what the doctor said it was (it was so long ago) but she did say that it is likely something that she would outgrow.
