Just got my impacted wisdom teeth out . . .

I got my Impacted wisdom teeth out on Thursday, (it is now sunday). I have been taking Fiornal and Tylenol 3 for the pain, but i dont really want to seeing as both are considered narcotics. Im also taking PCE as an antibiotic to prevent infection. Is there any oill taking rememdies to dull the pain at least?

Apparently today is supposed to be the worst day (probably marked by me looking like a totally different person with golfball being held in their mouth). Ive been rinsing with salt, and brushing gently too keep clean (also to prevent bad breath), also ive been on a somewhat liquid diet too because my ability to chew is greatly hindered. (Not to worry, ive been getting enough vitamins with cauliflower soup and mushy broccoli).

Is there any advice i can use to ride out the last 3 or 4 days of this ordeal with as little pain or discomfort as possible.

Etruscia, my heart goes out to you: I had my w.t. out back in '79, and they were so deeply impacted that he had to first quarter each of them, and then extract each chunk separately.

I spent the next 3-4 days in bed, sleeping, waking only to take heavy pain killers and sip some refreshment.

Best wishes in your recuperation!

Your "narcotics" aren't very powerful narcotics. As long as you are taking them for pain, you are unlikely to become addicted.

Your pain is real--less real with the pills. Don't worry.

Tylanol 3 is OTC in England.

Sad I am sorry you are having such trouble with your teeth. Cool compacts on your jaw will help with swelling.

I was one of the lucky ones. All teeth were impacted but I had virtually no swelling or pain.

I did just have a root canal that was absolutly the worst so I sympathize with you...mouth pain is the worst. Sad

Feel better....

Thank you all. I tried cold stuff, but the swelling does not respond. I think luckily the worst day has passed though.

Regarding Bella Dea and her non-swelling, it could [ossibly be that youre teeth were vertically impacted, compared to my outrageously horizontally impacted teeth.

Here is what my x-ray looked like

(not my actual x-ray though).
