An old classics teacher gave me a lovely Latin sAying to engrave over my cooking range some time ago. Sadly he died before I could get on with it. The English translation is something like, "To be is to eat and to eat is to be". I think part of the translation included the words, "esse et esse".
Can anyone help PLEASE?
esse est edere et edere est esse
or
edere est esse et esse est edere
I'd love to hear Sylvester say that.
