How much water to drink with the gerd condition.

I had the gerd condition for awhile already. I am taking medication for it though it only helps a little with the condition. I think I get more gerd when I drink some water though. I don't know what to do about it. Does anyone know how much water I should drink when having this condition. Any advice would be nice. Thanks.

@asiangal555,
I have gerd. I have never worried about the amount of water I drink.

For me, the most important thing is to eat much smaller meals with snacks in between.

@asiangal555,
Drinking plenty of water can help with hydration and digestion. Untreated GERD can radically increase your risk of esophageal cancer. But reflux can be managed.

@jasonbloom,
That was important information. Esophageal cancer is a nasty business. Reflux sometimes really needs to be dealt with.

@maxdancona,
Do you have a hiatal hernia, too? Are you getting medical attention?

Serious stuff, I hope its just a bit of reflux!

@bobsal u1553115,
Yes I have a hiatal hernia too. Yes I am getting treatment... Although it is just antacids and regular endoscopies.

There are worse problems...

@bobsal u1553115,
I have a hiatus hernia too, it’s manageable, the worst thing that happens is being woken up in the middle of the night, unable to breath with acid reflux. I sit bolt upright gasping for air, then it’s over but I’ve got that awful burning sensation at the back of my throat for the next half hour.

It doesn’t happen a lot, about once every two months, so it’s more of a pain in the arse than anything else. I was on tablets but I stopped taking them because I developed a tolerance very quickly. They’d work for about a fortnight then it was the same as before.

It’s no biggie.

@bobsal u1553115,
I’ve had it for a long time, if anything it’s got better.

If it gets bad I’ll call the doctor.
