@BillRM,
That's Eurocentrism at work. Even I know that. God is a Spirit- He has no race, ethnicity or nationality.

When Jesus was here on Earth He was born in the Middle East. He was NOT Caucasian, nor was He blonde-haired and blue-eyed, and He certainly did not speak with a British accent.

European artists often depicted Jesus as a White man so they could feel better about themselves.

In the good old days to said such would get you burn alive by the loving Christians.

@BillRM,
Read the Bible. Jesus had two earthly parents, Mary and Joseph. Look up "the Immaculate Conception".

Sorry the bible is clear Jesus have no human biologic father so his skin color as well as everything else about him was in god hands not where he was born including common skin color of the population.

Nonsense is nonsense but as a true believer you are the one who is struck with this silliness not me.

@BillRM,
I assume that Jesus had genes from his biological mother. Unless the Holy Spirit actually provided sperm (an idea that seems rather unlikely), I assume that all of the genetic material came from the mother.

I can't imagine that God would make him look genetically different than the other people in his neighborhood. And besides, it wasn't White Americans that were the chosen people of God.

There was one Christian game I have played on Facebook. It's called The Journey of Jesus: The Calling. It's an okay game.

I don't know how successful and popular it is.

@maxdancona,
I love to see what a drug store DNA test would show for Jesus<grin>

As far as the chosen people is concern the loving god used the Christians to put the chosen Jews through hell for two thousands years or so.

Once more how can any at least semi intelligent person believe this nonsense.

footnote I has been told by a Catholic friend you know the mother church, that Mary also was suppose to had been born without a biological father.

Of course not. Mainly because back then there was no America. The plot of land was somewhat formed, but it had a few other names. Additionally, not too many Caucasian folk had arrived on the land yet.

@Sturgis,
The peaceful natives also wiped out a few of the first European settlements .
If it was not for all the diseases that the settlers was carrying it would had been a lot harder for them to push the natives out and to take the land.

@BillRM,
It looked like typical American casting, stick someone, anyone, with an English accent in a role like that.

All I see is the hapless chef love interest. It doesn’t work for me in that role regardless of how many excuses you have.

@maxdancona,
The Last Temptation is a good film, Gibson’s piece is anti Semitic propaganda.

The Last Temptation is based on the book by Nikos Kazantzakis who also wrote Zorba the Greek. He was excommunicated for it twice, once for the book and again when the film came out.

I’ve visited his museum on Crete and he was essentially a very decent person and the Cretans are incredibly proud of him.

It deals with Christ being tempted by the ordinary, just to be a common man and live his life as a normal working class person. Nikos showed how that this, unlike kingship and power, was the greatest temptation of all.

Of course he upset religious orthodoxy, the sort who are quite happy to ignore the sufferings of the poor and get all hot under the collar about a talking rabbit.

@Rebelofnj,
Enoch was supposedly the last person to speak the language of the angels before the collapse of the Tower of Babel.

Dr John Dee had a series of angelic conversations in Enochian which then became the basis of a whole new system of magic.

Dee was the inspiration for Prospero in Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

@Rebelofnj,
Thanks for the suggestions, hadn’t heard of any of those.

Pesky random thought:
Why would anyone care about Jesus' skin tone if he was who he said.

Actually Jesus' skin tone is very important.

A White Jesus is a Jesus of the rich and powerful. The White Jesus is a conqueror who overtakes nations as his church accumulates wealth. Modern White Jesus has a house, a nice car running water, a 401K and a comfortable life with little need to worry about the less fortunate. White Jesus might write a check to help poor people, but only if there is money left over after he has his pool cleaned.

Compare that to the Biblical Jesus who was born in a barn, never owned house. Biblical Jesus lived in a backwater edge of an empire where he didn't have citizenship. Biblical Jesus was surrounded by people in need and was forced to face them and prompted to help them. Biblical Jesus said to "sell all of your possessions to give to the poor" (White Jesus would have never said that).

There is quite a big difference.

@maxdancona,
Perhaps I should have phrased it - 'if one believed he was who he said'.

Jesus would have had no use for a lousy 401K

This got a red ribbon AND a -5 thumb score! (And, actually, I thought it was one of my more clever posts).

That's awesome! I love Able2know.
