Good nit-picking, ehBeth
To continue in the nit-picky vein - exterior wall thickness, interior sheathing, tiedown rails, scuff plates, front corner radius, and door thickness all combine to reduce the available interior space somewhat from the nominal 53' exterior length, though, admittedly, not by 3' - more like 6" to 10", depending on configuration. If you had an exactly-measured 53' long product to ship, it wouldn't fit in a typical 53' trailer.
