It occurred to me that as you had been suckered by that article mascarading as history, they might have suckered some money out of you. It appears not, which is a good thing.

Flannell claimed to have succeeded in the "Great Work" (gold making) - certainly he became rich and made donations to churches, but nothing more.

Ages later, Johann Friedrich Böttger claimed to know making gold as well. However, finally he discovered (in 1707 together Ehrenfried Walter von Tschirnhaus ) 'white gold' = the secret of true porcelain.
