This should be boon to the national citrus industry.

NEW YORK A study of smells shows that the scent of grapefruit on women make them seem younger to men -- about six years younger

However, a grapefruit fragrance on men does nothing for them.

The study by the Smell and Taste Institute in Chicago was conducted to determine what makes a women smell young -- but not too young, like pink bubble gum.

Institute director Alan Hirsch said he smeared several middle-aged woman subjects with broccoli, banana, spearmint leaves, and lavender but none of those scents made a difference to the male species.

But the scent of grapefruit changed man's perception. Hirsch said that when male volunteers were asked to write down how old the woman with grapefruit odor was, the age was considerably less than reality.

Hey, Keltic of Connecticut. I bought some pink grapefruit just today, but I intend to eat it, not wear it.

As a matter of record, I suggested that test. <smile>

What do you mean it doesn't work for men? I find a couple grapefruit and a large banana stuffed down my pants works wonders.

Ah, yes, Noddy. Patton thought that he was a reincarnation of that Spartan warrior. And didn't the women of Sparta threaten to boycott the bedroom if those men didn't cease and desist the fighting?

Well, if they wore grapefruit, they probably got some compromise.

Doesn't grapefruit complicate some heart and cholesterol medications?

Ah, irresponsible youth!

Grapefruite juice in excess can cause statins to accumulate in your bloodstream, as it suppresses some liver enzyme that metabolizes the statins.

Well, since you're supposed to sorta marinate yourself in the juice, not drink it - it probably won't change how meds work.

<off to buy more grapefruit hair conditioner>
