Where can I go for real news?

I seriously doubt that any news channel in America is giving me any real news. When the Downing Street Memo was released - America went back to venerating Jacko and the Run Away Bride in about 8 seconds.

On the other side of that seems that the wacko's are aloud to circulate thier news because they pose no real threat.

Where can I get some real news - with real journalism?

News from the BBC is broadcast on PBS.

Try some of the news analysis shows on PBS, like Washington Week in Review and Now.

Do you need to watch your news or can you turn to the internet for news?

I can watch - listen - read - anything. I just want REAL news! I fear the internet because it seems any asswipe is allowed to publish a BLOG - which has an edit function and allows them to change what they said to fit the facts (Not even the need for a memory hole).

The New York Times is quite good. It may not be on the front page, but if it's news, it's almost always there.

Online:

I'd start with the drudge report and work from the list of links he offers to various world news services. You can pick and choose the ones you like and then you can become a discerning reader of news.

Hmm.

Strangely enough, I recommend CNN's International Edition which they show at 11 eastern or noon or something like that.

It's completely different than our local CNN; a solid hour of world news, very little fluff. Refreshing.

I get my news from talk radio, Air America radio. It's the only legitimate news source in town. I also listen to a station out of San Francisco. 810 KGO. They keep me pretty well informed.

I also read the Oregonian newspaper. But as far as Television news goes, it's all propaganda and strictly based on ratings. You can't get real news from television.

I have a great local public radio station that covers national news, especially politics: www.WAMC.org. You can listen on-line. There is also www.NPR.org
Like Soz, I also get the NYTimes on-line.
