it says "Can not understand location"

-We could not understand the location 1060 W Addison

Suggestions:

Make sure all street and city names are spelled correctly.
Make sure your address includes a city and state.
Try entering a zip code.

A few years ago I wanted to get from Arcata in north Northern California to Point Reyes Station, a bit north of San Francisco Bay. I knew the route and just wanted the time involved. Mapquest told me twelve hours, as close as I can remember. I think it took me six with a stop for lunch.

Mapquest used to be terrible for Canada. They have finally got it together. A little late since google is absolutely bang on every time I use it.
The satellite thing is all that useful, but cool nonetheless.

AAA is great for setting out section by section road trips.
I wouldn't get a membership just for access to that service, but if you've got the membership, the personal TripTiks you can work up are fantastic. Gives you info current road work to watch for. Sometimes even notes areas with speedtraps. Will let you do a fastest trip or scenic route option (or did the last time I used the service).

Bail money in the U.S. Key service. Hotel/flight/car rental discounts. Free tow service.

I've used this website for the past few years to plan our road trips. It's great in terms of route planning, and the times and mileages indicated are accurate.

Free Trip

Just plugging in your starting point and your destination will give you the shortest distance between the two, but there is an option to select scenic routes and/or avoid toll roads.

There's also an option to display facilities along the route and another to display atlas cross-references, though I haven't bothered with those options. I'm just interested in the route and the time.
