Longest human lineage ever.....

I have no idea whether this has already been the subject of a thread on A2K, but I have just remembered this item, and thought that it would be of interest.
In the article, it mentions that one theory surmised that our origins were from the Middle East, but with the new DNA evidence, this now seems unlikely.
Thank God for that!! Imagine....people of Middle Eastern origin, own plentiful Oil supply, a good stock of WMD....doesnt bear thinking about.

And did Hamlet share DNA with his so-called "uncle"?

Perhaps, Noddy. One day the human race may all end up with primitive eyelids. Ah, the sloe eyed beauties of the world.

Sorry, 'ellpus. Just drifting.

That is interesting - I imagine (didn't read the whole article) that dna breaks down sometime soon after 10,000 years? Or is it just that no other links have been made?

I wouldnt know about the DNA thing, littlek, maybe a scientist looking in will be able to help.
When they do these types of survey in Britain, they always ask around for information on local families that can trace their lineage, to that particular area, back to 1850 or so.
If your family was around in the same village at that time, chances are that your lineage will go way back in the same area, as people didnt travel before the mid 19th Century.
The BBC made a documentary series, called "Blood of the Vikings", which involved a similar sort of testing (Y chromosome....men tested only, as it passes only from Father to Son) and came up with some very interesting results. Well worth watching, if you ever find it in your local Library.

It's amazing (and maybe a little heartwarming) that the teacher lives so close to the cave where his ancestor was found. Talk about having one's roots in the community!

Sloe eyes or jaundiced eyes?

Well, yes. They looked at the DNA of people whose families had lived in the area for generations...

Or maybe they looked for locals with hereditary agrophobia?
