@Rebelofnj,
I know The Onion fabricates a bunch of nonsense and posts it on their site and publishes it in their magazine. Is anything they ever post online and/or write in their magazines factual?

@JGoldman10,
The Onion is a satirical publication. They are not a real news organization.

They write articles and headlines that are truthful, but said in a sarcastic/deadpan manner.

Here is their headline in regards to the multiple mass shootings in the US:
‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens

One of my favorites is Man Prefers Comic Books That Don’t Insert Politics Into Stories About Government-Engineered Agents Of War

There is also their famous 9/11 edition:

Dear lord! That's their raison d'etre. How can you NOT understand that? The Onion is publisher of satirical and humorous works.

And where in Rebel's post do you think he's referring to the Onion publication? His post is pointing out to you the dangers of the source you are pushing as hard evidence. You're being suckered into some dangerous conservative propaganda pushing that nonsense.

The publisher of that Stansberry Research nonsense is a convicted criminal and conartist.
$1.5 million payback ordered in SEC suit
Quote:
Baltimore investment research firm and one of its editors have been ordered to pay $1.5 million in restitution and civil penalties for disseminating false stock information and defrauding public investors through a financial newsletter, according to a court ruling.

The decision by Baltimore U.S. District Judge Marvin J. Garbis, ends four years of litigation between the Securities and Exchange Commission and defendants Pirate Investor LLC and Frank Porter Stansberry.

The suit focused on a "Special Report" Stansberry wrote - and Pirate published - along with e-mail advertising the document. They claimed investors could double their money if they paid $1,000 for a stock tip involving Bethesda energy company USEC Inc. In total, 1,217 people purchased the report, although 215 of them got their money back after complaining.

@tsarstepan,
That sounds dangerously like you're trying to get Mr Goldman toi think for himself. From the sounds of it he wants Stansberry Research to do his thinking for him.

@Rebelofnj,
I thought The Onion was some trashy tabloid publication like The National Enquirer, or the Globe, or the Sun, or Weekly World News or The National Examiner or Star.

These magazines I listed are supermarket tabloids. I don't know too much about The Onion.

I know there was a movie based on The Onion:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Onion_Movie

The movie was reminiscent of those movies that parodied pop culture in the '80s and '90s. I thought it was kind of stupid.

@JGoldman10,
I listened to 5 minutes of it before I turned it off. Same old b s. No facts, just trying to scare the economic pants off of you. In other words propaganda.

@JGoldman10,
If you thought The Onion Movie was a parody of pop culture, then wouldn't you think that The Onion publication was a parody of news?

If you looked at their website and see the headlines, it is very clear that The Onion is comedic in nature.

Here are their current headlines:
*John Bolton Asked To Leave Condo Board Meeting After Repeatedly Advocating Bombing Isaacsons
*Working In General Vicinity For 8 Hours A Day Misinterpreted As Friendship
*Panicked Ken Burns Worried He In Too Deep With 17-Trillion-Hour ‘The Universe’ Documentary
*Kim Kardashian Tries To Escape L.A. In Rowboat After Realizing Past 12 Years Of Life Have Been TV Show
*Kavanaugh Denies New Sexual Misconduct Claim During Emotional, Pants-Less Press Conference

I'm slowly realizing why you asked for resources on how to write comedy.

This would have been truly disturbing if it were true:

@JGoldman10,
You failed to realize that The Onion was a satirical comedic newspaper and believed it was sensationalist news like those tabloids you mentioned.

It's satire. How do you NOT get this simple fact? You may not find it funny. Humor and comedy are subjective. But that's all it is. I'm mildly terrified to find out what garbage you find funny.

Because writing comedy is serious stuff and you don't seem to recognise a joke, let alone get it.

@Rebelofnj,
I don't believe everything I read in tabloid magazines. Even I know when it's fabricated.

Weekly World News was famous for fabricated news. For example, they had headlines like "Bat Boy Lives", or some ridiculous headlines and articles about aliens and politicians.

A lot of the people who write for these tabloid magazines think people are gullible enough to believe anything.

Except you believe that the Illuminati exists, that many celebrities and musicians are part of it and that there is hidden messages from the Illuminati in films, shows and music performances.

@Rebelofnj,
The Illuminati DOES exist. Secret societies do exist. Some politicians are tied to it also. Someone I know told me about the "Black Boule"- a secret society founded and run by gay African American men.

@farmerman,
His biggest problem is his straight laced outlook. I remember he got really upset about a fairly harmless cartoon about Doctor Who needing to go to the toilet. It was called Doctor Poo and Mr Goldman said it was pornographic.

If you're offended by that there's not a lot of places you can go, not if you want to make people laugh.

@Rebelofnj,
I want to learn how to be funny when writing cartoons and comics. That's why I asked for resources on writing comedy for cartoons and comics. Some people are naturally funny- it's a gift. I am trying to be funny- apparently what I think is funny doesn't humor others.

I think I might be trying to hard to be funny.
