We are having an argument about whether the r is sounded or not?
Thanks.
det-ghrra would be my guess
If you want to hear pronounced the French way by a Frenchman -
a click here will give you the short sound (with sounded 'r' - it's a Quicktime file, btw!).
Thanks for the help...very interesting. I'm not sure that fully settles the matter with my sister or not, but it might shut her up a bit.
The "r" is pronounced--but without either being a native speaker of French, or having had a hell of a lot of practice, the average English speaker is not going to pronounce it correctly.
Etre ou ne pas être, telle est la question!
How should we pronounce in French Vosges and Texas?
Vosges: Vowj (both "s" are not sounded)
Texas: Técsass ("é" is pretty particular... I can't find any equivalent in english...)
