Alternative to the Gerund
Africanus omnibus salutem dicit,
Seeing as there is NO gerund for the verb esse, how would the following phrase be rendered:
For the sake of doing good
to do good: prosum, prodesse, profui
An example of the gerund construction that I had originally thought ideal for this follows:
gratia discendi = for the sake of learning
any help would be much appreciated.

I'd probably take the path of least resistance and use benefacere.
But that doesn't really address the question.
