I've been searching the net, trying to find a few words and phrases in Ancient Greek for a novel thing I'm working on. Its a semi warped and twisted Atlantis think, with a bunch of other ideas chucked in. I'm trying to find two things at the moment:
Gateway / Portal
- closest I have is "Pulon" (phonetic spelling), which apparently means gate...or something along those lines.
Lost City
- I'm not on about Atlantis, but something very similar. A city that is now lost. I can't even find "lost", let alone work out how to change the verb into the right tense.
Can anyone help? Thanks if you can.
I don't know about lost cities but the "gateway" word you're thinking about is also transliterated as "pylon" - that's the origin of the word as in electricity pylons. Try googling "pylon" + "ancient greece" or some such formula and you should get some information. I think that the Egypt of the Ptolemies built "pylons" too.
