i was just wondering if over-masturbation causes a lack of fertility in sperm or is it genetics that causes this? i know you can never run out of sperm but i was just wondering about the other end of it. thanks!

You make sperm as long as you are sexually active. If you're not getting any for a long time then masturbation will probably keep you fertile.
The only fertility disadvantage is that if you do it shortly before having sex then you're not gonna have too many of the little guys left in stock and you're gonna shoot a load that is largely semen not sperm
