Are there any disease that cause a deterioration of the brain that might cause both physical and mental disability that could lead to insanity or paralysis or both? I'm thinking it could even be a brain tumor maybe? Just want an opinion.
I'm working on a short story and I need the right disease for a character.
One more question: Can aides lead to paralysis?
Anybody knowing the answers to one of both of the questions, I would just love!!!
Well, Huntington's Chorea is a devastating brain disease - leading to physical and mental total deterioration - as could a brain tumour.
Untreated tertiary syphilis led to insanity sometimes, I believe.
AIDS itself could not cause paralysis - but the opportunistic diseases it allows could well do so - eg via a brain tumour.
I am sure some REAL medical knowledge types will be along soon!
Isn't there a similar thread?
I think there is AL zheimer. I know that my father and brother are both paralytic, but due to an accident.
Navigator. I am interested in your family life - for example, your father and brother's paralysis...
but all of that is not my personal business.
However, if you ever feel like talking about it here, I plan to listen.
Hi ossobuco, thanks for your feeling. Actually I write about my father in the Aging forum,

He's an old man 83 I guess, and brother is 2 years older than me. He's 27 because I'm 25. And it's ok to ask anything you want, you are a friend
Thanks for the link, navigator, I'll go read that.
