Yeah really Tico, you should have asked Dr. Jonas Salk about that when he was doing the research for polio vaccines. I'm pretty sure he would said "public funding? don't be crazy, we don't need no public funding, we just take a few more centuries till we can prove its profit potential then we can get all the private funding we need" Right Tico?

It's going to end up being a case where the US will be behind in the technology, trading possible important medical breakthroughs for knee-jerk irrational fears.

See. No need to rely on the government to do everything for you.

Tico
You don't get it do you The government supports research both medical and otherwise with our tax dollars. Bush is ready to support with tax dollars umbilical cord stem cell research but not fetal cell research. Why? Because of his religious convictions. How dare he impose his religious beliefs upon the people of the US? And how dare you in his support [as usual} justify it with the statement of why should tax dollars support research as if it is a new concept.

Didn't mean to ignore this, dys .. just didn't see it until now. Wink

You might not know this about me, but I'm not nearly as old as you. My window of opportunity was not as big as yours, and I believe I've missed my opportunity for that one-on-one with Dr. Salk, so I really can't ask him. Did you get a private audience with him, or are you just suppositioning or assumptioning per usual?
