Hi
i'm doing a grammatical research concerning the use of the modals : 'will' and 'shall, searching the BNC-OU corpus, i have found that 'will' is more frequent in writing and it is almost used for prediction
while the contracted form ('ll) is the most frequent in speach
so, can you help me interpreting this finding
that is why we use 'will' more in writing and why ''ll' is frequent in speach

"Will" is more formal and would be used in writing. "'ll" shows how the form is actually pronounced; a person would be more likely to say, "I'll see who's at the door" than "I will see who is at the door." The second one would sound stilted and overly formal in casual speech.
