Everybody's bashing France. What about Russia and Germany that will also vote against the US and UK in the Security Council.
People want to rename French Fries to "Freedom Fries"...
I say we should rename Russian Roulette "Freedom Roulette"
And German Measles, "Freedom Measles".
Equus, It's more like we should rename the congressman that even considered changing the name of foods served in our capital. His brain is 'fried.' Maybe, it's french-fried.

Notice that Russia and Germany lack the enormous, and unmerited arrogance of France. The whole renaming thing, though, is on the level of draping statues.

The US has already bashed both Germany and Russia in the past, it is time to move on to a new country to bash.
Germany was bashed in 1945; I cannot remember, when Russia/USSR was bashed, at least by the USA...

I'd thought, steissd, that you remember fro instance the grain embargo or the absence of 64 countries to the Olympic games in 1980. As Joanne has pointed out, there are numerous more.
Ah, OK, the explanation accepted.
Russia was our enemy for 50 years, And Germany in the two great wars. France on the other hand was our ersatz ally. One that we spilled our blood for. That is why the animosity. I should note however this bashing is stupid and childish.
