hi guys - first post and i think i'm asking a lot of someone, so please be gentle with me. i came across the following on a stained glass window while working in quite an old hall which i believe once belonged to the british royal family.

either side of the above are two angels holding scrolls with the words GLORIADIO and PAXHOMINIB

Mercy and justice .... a translator will no doubt appear soon.
There is a gentleman here, George, who is our resident latin scholar. I have not the least doubt that he will provide the information you seek, as soon as he sees this.
Glory to God, and peace to men (mankind). That's the next bit.

(At least, it will be similar - but, as Set already said, George surely will come with a better translation :wink: )
That's pretty close to Psalm 100

Okay, for clarity, the scrolls say
Gloria Deo = Glory to God
Pax Homine = Peace to men
Well, I might quibble and say
Pax Hominibus
Yes of course, hominibus. To men, to mankind. It is 47 years since I studied any Latin, and I wasn't very good at it even then.
