You are a character indeed Dys Wink

I love the picture where Diane is holding the "cigar".
All the pictures are very nice and the write-up as well.
Job well done Walter http://www.mainzelahr.de/smile/froehlich/hello.gif

Well, and on Thursday Diane and dys had to leave us, too.

We made a little detour driving to their hotel at Frankfurt airport.

At first, we just had a look (=passing by) at the famous and unique Wuppertal Schwebebahn.
Then, five kilometers away, we stopped in a pretty suburb of Ulla's native town Solingen called Gräfrath, to have Kaffee/Tee here:

Our way lead us again to the Rhine, where we had a short view (nota bene the different ways, how dys and Diane do have "short views"!) at the Cologne Cathedral.

After all that culture (we saw quite a few rocky pieces/statues etc from Roman times as well), we enjoyed a reall German meal in this brewery

Diane's dish:

Well, since a long flight was ahead, we drove straight to Francfort. (Diane was saying something this time, when I accelerated to the "higher categories". But since she fell soon asleep and dys can't read, especially no German speedometer ... )

I'd (we had!) really wished that the weather hadn't been so bad, so that we l could have done something different.

Today - c.i. as the last one just left Germany - the weather changed to the better, and we could have used our terrasse/balcony ...

But now, since all the friendly, nice and most-welcome A2K-friends from the USA, the UK and Germany have left us, it's dark and emty in our aprtment

(Okay, it's nearly midnight and I could have switched on some more lights and/or used a better flaslight, I admit.)

There are damn near as many germans in germany as there are in the US. I was agog.(Walter is one of THEM) The only other place I had seen so many Germans was when I was in Torremolinos Spain.

If I would have known that Walter was a German I would have embraced him years ago.

The Fatherland is that important to me.

I've been there in 1973 - I'd thought that there were more than here.
(Today, you'll find them concentrated in Mallorca.)
